Attempted Burglary Tops Thursday Ramapo Police Blotter

RAMAPO, N.Y. – An attempted robbery in New Hempstead was the biggest incident on Thursday's police blotter in Ramapo.

Officers said they responded to the call around 6:30 p.m., investigated a damaged screen and found a man in the woods near the home.

The 24-year old from Spring Valley was arrested and charged with attempted burglary, criminal mischief, stalking, aggravated harassment, endangering the welfare of a child and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

He was arraigned and sent to Rockland County Jail until a hearing can take place.

The incident was one of 114 calls Thursday, including 12 alarm activations, seven medical emergencies, three fires and 13 arrests in total.

Along with the charges connected to the robbery, other charges filed Thursday included criminal contempt and solicitation.

Six vehicle accidents also took place in the area, two of them hit and runs and one accident with an injury.
